Within the last two weeks firefox has exhibited a memory leak that i've never seen in years of using the browser Please fix the memory leak problem. I'll post a screenshot below along with some supporting information.
I opened a few tabs, left it there for a few hours, and the memory increased to several gigabytes The firefox representative who told me that it wasn't actually using that memory and my computer was incorrectly reading mem usage was wrong This happens mainly because when you close tabs, the ram they took is still taxing your computer
That among other things cause this annoying leakage
Since the last updates firefox client has a memory leak issue My habit is to open a high number of tabs Never had any problem until the latests release The tabs don't seem to free up the memory when i close the tabs
For example the client reached ~2gb of ram, the usage remained the same even if i closed the tabs. Could be a memory leak in firefox, or it could be a memory leak inside the js of one of the pages you have open. I have reluctantly given up on firefox for windows and switched to chrome because firefox starts a ridiculous number of tasks (often more than 40) and eats up all the memory in my system, slowing it to a crawl. Even if you're not a programmer, you can try your hand at some other tools and tips firefox developers use to debug leaks.
Even after closing tabs firefox keeps sucking memory as if the tabs are still open. 6 replies 3 have this problem 7 views last reply by fredmcd 6 years ago
